Abstract

The larvae of the mordellid beetles Mordellistena acuticollis Schilsky, 1895 and M. pseudoparvula Ermisch, 1956 are described for the first time. They have similar morphological features, and differ mainly by head dimensions, size and degree of development of the apical spines. Features of the external structure of the larvae, along with the morphological characteristics of adults, indicate high degree of similarity between species of the subgenus Pseudomordellina and mordellid beetles of the parvula group. This degree, in our opinion, is more than between species of the parvula group and representatives of some other groups of species of the subgenus Mordellistena. Larvae of M. acuticollis in Belarus develop in the stems of Artemisia vulgaris L., larvae of
M. pseudoparvula — in stems of Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., Carduus nutans L. and C. crispus L. As well as morphological features, environmental characteristics of the larvae M. acuticollis and representatives of the parvula group are similar.
