The study was carried out on the territory of Belovezhskaya Pushcha (Bialowieza Primeval Forest) in the drying spruce forests, where sanitary felling with elimination of deadwood took place and in the spruce forests, located in
the strict protected zone of the National Park without the influence of forest management on the forests and deadwood. Species richness of saproxylic rove beetles is comparable between the forests with felling and forests without felling.
This is explained, in the first run, by the presence of coarse woody debris of different “quality” (different stages of decomposition), and by deadfallen trees where more than 80 % of specimens of beetles were collected. The trophic
structure of the rove beetle communities in forest stands under both types of forest management is characterized by domination in the species richness of obligatory and facultative predators.
