In the course of studying the materials on true bugs Heteroptera, collected on the territory of the Republic of Belarus in 2021, one alien species of assassin bugs (Reduviidae) was identified: Zelus renardii Kolenati, 1857. The native habitat of the species is located in North America and at present the species expands its area, including Eurasia.
Z. renardii was discovered by one of the authors in a chain store on imported grapes in November 2021. This accidental find is most likely the result of an unintentional delivery by man with imported agricultural products, probably
from southern Europe or Turkey. The possibilities of naturalization of Z. renardii under the conditions of the Republic of Belarus, taking into account its biological and ecological characteristics, are being discussed. To monitor biological invasions of invertebrates in our country, it would be useful to conduct reconnaissance surveys of their species range
in retail chains, in storage and on the adjacent territories.
