Abstract

Technology has become a foundational component in many areas of our daily lives, as well as in the sphere of education. Although the education system has always been strongly influenced by innovations, the appearance of new technologies caused tectonic shifts in the way the teaching process is carried out in the university. Many technology enthusiasts believe that changes in the education system can only go forward due to the growth in number of modern technologies and methods of education that have numerous advantages. In this regard, many teachers believe that abandoning traditional education is almost certain in the near future, noting that traditional education will not be able to adequately prepare students for the new challenges and demands of the real world. However, sceptics often argue that we should be careful with the immediate implementation of modern technologies in educational process, primarily because of the potential consequences, such as decreased writing skills, loss of concentration, exam fraud and so on. Taking into account the arguments of both sides, in this article we will consider advantages and disadvantages of modern technologies in education, and try to explain how they impact today’s students.
