The article substantiates the need to point out the criteria and indicators of socialization and inculturation of the personality of
a student of higher education in the context of preparing a specialist for future professional activities. The differentiation of criteria and
indicators of the students socio-cultural development, which serve as the basis for assessing and adjusting the level of formed social and
artistic values, worldview positions, spiritual and moral ideals, is based on the mechanisms of training, education and development of the
digital era personality. The criteria and indicators of the socio-cultural development of students of higher education institutions in the
programs of artistic and aesthetic education are identified and disclosed in connection with the positions of competency-based,
differentiated and personality-oriented approaches. Communicative and activity-creative criteria as dominant in artistic and aesthetic
education are presented in two forms: contact and virtual. It is proved that the assessment of the level of socio-cultural development of
a student of a higher education institution in artistic and aesthetic specialties serves as the basis for identifying inconsistencies and allows
you to make adjustments to educational programs at the level of curricula and curricula for academic disciplines.
