Abstract

The psychological time of a personality is regarded as a self-awareness of the subject in different time dimensions —
the past, the present and the future. The article studies the child’s self-awareness in the past at preschool and early school
age. The analyzing of the parents’ diary about their child’s development has resulted in some facts and regularities
attesting. The past is acknowledged by children as the time ‘‘when I was little’’. By means of the elaborated methods ‘‘The
drawing from the past’’ the features of the age dynamics of the awareness of their past and the attitude to the past at
preschool and early school age have been found out. It is fixed that the personal attitude to the past is already spotted at
preschool age, preschool age children treat their past on the analogy with the present. At 6—7 there can be a detached
attitude to the past, which indicates that the emergence of the relations between the time dimensions in self-consciousness
appear in this period. Children’s ideas of their past tend to perform regulatory functions.
