Abstract

The article considers the content of the optional course “To the Olympic Heights” for children aged 6—7 on the subject “Physical Training and Health”, as well as the expediency of its application for the development of motivation
for physical culture and sports, the development of basic motor skills, meeting the needs of children in motor activity. The results of an empirical study are presented that indicate the formation of the foundations of knowledge in children aged 6—7 on the modules topics of the course “Healthy Lifestyle”, “Kinds of Sports”, “Fair Play Principles”. The effectiveness of work in pairs, small groups and the whole class in solving tasks of the course Workbook, which
contributes to the development of communication skills in joint activities among primary school students, is argue.
