Abstract

The article examines the topical issue of researching animalistic imagery in literature as one of the reserves and impulses of the development of modern humanism; the dynamics of the development of Belarusian artistic animalism in its realistic direction are traced; the problem of literary connections and influences in the creation of animalistic images is understood. Works of Belarusian, Russian, Jewish, and English literature are considered, the main character of which is a horse: "Biography of Kosach" by U. Syrokomli, "Bulany" by K. Chorny, "Halstamer" by L. Tolstoy, "Methuselah" by Sholam Aleichem, "Black Handsome" H. Sewell. The main forms and principles of functioning of this animalistic image are determined, in connection with which the concepts of "aesthetic anthropomorphism", "hypothetical psychology of a horse" are interpreted; the distinctiveness of the transmission of sensations of a living being is analyzed as a variant of psychologism; conclusions are made about the nature of continuity and the role of interliterary influences
