INVESTIGATION OF FATIGUE STRENGTH OF MACHINE COMPONENTSWITH THERMAL SPRAY COATINGS UNDER CYCLIC PUSH/PULL CONDITIONS

A substantiation of a surface-strengthening technology of machine components for structures endurance increase was implemented.
The influence of a thermal spray powder Ni-Cr-base coating on a medium carbon steel fatigue resistance was investigated. Fully
reversed push/pull tests of mild hour-glass profile specimens were carried out which showed an irregular increasing of a durability under
chosen loading parameters and strengthening technology. A low cycle fatigue field under close to the yield limit stresses was studied and
discussed in detail where a growth of number cycles to failure for a combined specimen runs up to a value divisible by five. It is proved
that a steel specimen with a hard coating works as the indivisible whole and in spite of a brittle-type cracking its fatigue endurance
increases essentially.
