Abstract

The reduction of grain loss during combine harvesting is a critical element of modern technologies. Modern
combine harvesters have potential for harvesting with minimal costs. Though there is a trend of reducing the number
of combine harvesters in the country, their qualitative modernization aimed at improving productivity and quality of
work is consistently carried out. In order to reduce grain loss using the combine harvester’s key straw-shaker, the
spring-finger activator was developed. It was tested during the harvesting campaign in 2016. The production study of
the operation of the spring-finger activator allowed to determine the reduction of grain loss and justify economic
parameters of the expediency of using this activator.
