THE RESEARCH OF THE TREAD WEAR OF ALL-SEASON AUTOMOBILE TIRESFOR MECHANICAL CARGO VEHICLES

The aim of this paper is to study the tread wear of all-season automobile tires produced by various manufacturers,
depending on the operating conditions of mechanical cargo vehicles.
The scientific novelty of the work is to obtain new experimental data on the change in the tread size of allseason
automobile tires depending on the mileage, type of road surface, and seasonality of vehicle operation.
The introduction contains brief information on the wear of tire treads depending on the operating conditions
of vehicles. The requirements for the tread size of a truck tire are presented. The main part of the article describes
the research methodology for determining the tread wear of all-season automobile tires depending on the vehicle
mileage, seasonality and type of road surface. The results of the study of the tread wear of all-season automobile
truck tires of various brands are shown. In the course of the research it was found out that the best performance
properties relative to the tread wear for the entire period of operation of an all-season truck tire are characteristic of
Triangle TR 693 (China) and Goodyear G46 (Turkey, 2018) tires. It was established that the value of the tread wear
of Triangle TR 693 (China) and Goodyear G46 (Turkey, 2018) brands of tires is on average 4.2…22.8 % lower
than the same indicator for the other tire brands under consideration. Thus, a conclusion can be made that when
operating cargo vehicles it is advisable to use all-season truck tires of Triangle TR 693 and Goodyear G46 brands
due to their better performance characteristics.
The research results will be useful to mechanical engineers when choosing a brand of all-season automobile
tires during the operation of mechanical cargo vehicles.
