The object of the study in the article is the drive mechanism of the chain unit. The technique of its force analysis based on the d'Alembert-Lagrange principle has been developed and variants with a balanced and unbalanced crank have been considered. The results of experimental studies of the mechanical characteristics of the drive mechanism and their comparison with theoretical ones are presented. The second-order regression equations have been obtained, allowing simultaneous assessment of changes in the geometric and kinematic parameters of the drive mechanism by the magnitude of the torque Mу and mechanical power N. The influence coefficients have been introduced, allowing the use of the technique of force analysis of the drive mechanism without taking into account friction forces. The research results can be used in designing the drive mechanism in order to reduce the mechanical power expended on the drive of the working chamber of the chain unit. The developed method of force analysis can be included in the corresponding section of the discipline “Theory of Mechanisms and Machines”.
