Abstract

This article discusses the main scientific positions on the problem of the relationship between the Baltic
and Slavic languages as a methodological factor in studies of the ethnogenesis of the Slavs. The scientific
works of the late twentieth — early twenty-first century are analyzed. The points of view of linguists and
archaeologists of this period are compared. The significance of this or that solution of the “Baltic-Slavic
problem” in the context of creating the concept of the origin of the Slavs is determined.
