DISCURSIVE CONSTRUCTION OF THE IMAGE OF THE USA IN THE MODERN BRITISH AND RUSSIAN PRESS: COMPARATIVE ASPECT

Abstract

The article examines the features of the discursive construction of the image of the United States in the modern British and Russian press. The research material is newspaper articles from Great Britain and Russia, which contain information about the United States. The main structural components of the image of the United States in the British and Russian press are highlighted: domestic and foreign policy, COVID-19, economy, media personalities, sports and public life. Both similarities and differences in the ratio of structural components of the image of the United States in the Russian and British press have been established. It is determined that in the thematic space of both British and Russian newspaper articles information of politic dominates, which indicates the intersection of mass media discourse with political discourse.
