Abstract

The article is dedicated to the system of olfactory images in I.A. Bunin's poetry. The smells in the poet's lyrics are
considered in the context of symbolism of poetic language. The olfactory images in Bunin's poetry are subjective impressions,
aswell as symbols associatedwith culturalmemoryof the lyrical subject. The smells apart from their direct meaning
carry certain implications, connotations.
