Abstract

The article deals with the main problems of adaptation of students from among orphans. The relevance of studying
the coping strategies of students from among orphans is indicated, taking into account their age and social status
(students of institutions of higher education). The results of an empirical study of coping strategies of three social
groups are presented: they have no experience of being in foster or substitute families and, before entering institutions
of higher/secondary specialized education, were in boarding schools for orphans; were left without parental care and
were placed in foster or foster families; students from complete families who have both parents and live with them. It is
shown that the coping strategies of boarding school students are characterized by non-constructiveness, deficiency and
rigidity. Foster families pupils are distinguished by the pro-social orientation of coping with crisis situations. Sufficient
attention in the article is paid to the description of the intensity of accumulation and loss of resources among students
from among orphans.
