Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the adventurous and philosophical novel “Farewell to autumn” which was written by Stanislaw Ignacy Witkevich. It is one of the most difficult works that possesses a range of figurative and linguistic means. The artistic originality of the novel is considered in the article, it is focused on various artistic techniques and figurative means such as metaphors, comparisons and the author’s neologisms. The masterful language
proficiency allows the writer to harmoniously bind various artistic techniques for giving flexibility and plasticity to the language of the novel. The novelty of this work is that the aspects of artistic originality of the novel “Farewell to autumn” by S. I. Witkevich are touched upon, that allows us to consider the novel from a new perspective. The materials of the article can be used at universities in general and specialized courses on Polish and foreign literatures.
