Abstract

The article deals with the issue of discrimination in the educational environment. The authors touch upon one of the least discussed aspects of this problem — discrimination in the system of “teacher—student” interaction. The characteristic of groups of teachers who are inclined to discrimination in their professional activities is presented. This characteristic is based on the correlation of the revealed teacher’s personality characteristics and the style of his/her professional activity. Discriminatory basis is the consideration of students’ abilities and the use of student-centered approach. The teachers in the risk group are offered recommendations on the ways to correct their professional activities. Also, the article describes in general terms a model for organizing the activities of the socio-pedagogical and psychological service for the prevention of discrimination in an educational institution.
