Abstract

The article presents the results of an empirical study of the motherʼs representations about the images of an abstract and real child. An analysis of maternal representations about their children will make it possible to bring closer an understanding of the mechanisms of the mutual influence of children's images on the perception of their mothers. The results of the study show that in the consciousness of the mother the images of abstract and real children differ from
each other. Psychological features of the images of an abstract child include many stereotyped and idealized characteristics. The revealed psychological properties of the two groups of childrenʼs images in the social perceptual representations of the mother make it possible to assume that different children born by the same mother evoke different images in
her mind. The attitude towards abstract and real children will be based on perception of mother.
