NOVEL-BAG OF STANISLAV IGNACY WITKEVICH

Abstract

This article is devoted to the description of the features of the non-classicist novel in interwar Poland, namely the characteristic of such a innovative genre as the novel-bag, introduced by the Polish writer of the first half of the twentieth
century Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewich. The paper gives an assessment of the concept of the novel-bag by various critics and literary critics, and also highlights the characteristic features of the novel-bag of S. I. Witkewich (on the example
of the works “The Farewell to autumn”, “The Insatiability”, “The Only way out”). The main features of the style of the Polish writer, which characterize the uniqueness of his work, are also determined. In addition, the emphasis is
placed on identifying features of their poetik that violate the generally accepted rules of building classic novels.
