The article provides the structure and content of the little-known almanacs “Life and Art” [Zhizn’ i Iskusstvo] (edited by A. Allin) and “Our Way” [Nash Put’] (edited by Iv. Novgorod-Seversky) published in Constantinople in 1921. These journals reflect the facts, trends and ways of building the cultural life in Russian Constantinople and in the whole of Russia Abroad. Writers A. Allin and Iv. Novgorod-Seversky, who were members of the literary
association “Tsargrad Guild of Poets” [Tsaregradsky Tsekh Poetov], introduced in the almanacs a range of opinions, moods and artistic searches of Russian refugees immediately after emigration. The preservation and development of authentic culture and art are declared by the authors of the publications to be important conditions for the existence of Russian emigration. The nature and content of their works indicate the formation of one of the main constants of the literature of the Russian diaspora — the “path” concept. The journals are subjected to scientific analysis for the first time.
