Abstract

The article substantiates the influence of the image of the bodily “I” formed in primary school age on the course of pubertal crisis and the development of self-awareness in adolescence. It describes the results of an empirical study of the
image of the bodily “I” of 9—10 year-old children as well as the ideas of parents about the body of children. Two groups of children with individual characteristics of the image of the bodily “I” were formed. The first group is children who are
satisfied with their appearance, the second group is children who are dissatisfied with their body and want to change it. It also describes the results of studying the relationship between parent and peer assessments and body satisfaction in primary school children. The results of a bivariate correlation analysis of indicators established during the content analysis of unfinished sentences and conversations on self-assessment scales are presented.
