Abstract

The purpose of the article is to present the image of a contemporary writer by changing the research perspective: moving away from artistic creativity and approaching the phenomenon of a human writer (Homo scriptor). There is no universal model for writing. The emergence of an idea can be stimulated by external impressions caused by objects of the surrounding reality and serving as an impulse for memory activating. As a result of the symbiosis of external stimuli
and impressions stored in memory for such stimuli, the writer's imagination generates new associations — a new image and new circumstances that create the basis for a creative idea. Writers note that the process of working on different genres goes differently: stories are written easier than novels. At the same time, the main thesis is obvious: a truly gifted author cannot but write, because he experiences a psychological and even physiological need for creativity.
