Abstract

The women’s attitude towards motherhood, the value and role of motherhood in the modern world are gradually being transformed. Traditional values are being replaced by individualism, hedonism, consumerism and having few children. This is due to both — to the cultural characteristics of the modern world and to the peculiarities of the development of a woman within her parental family and the nature of the relationship within herself. In this article, motherhood is considered as an event in a womanʼs life path, the authorʼs definition of the “attitude towards motherhood” category
is presented. In order to expand the possibilities for analysis and subsequent work with the attitude of women to
motherhood, the concept of four fundamental motivations of A. Lenglet is described, on the basis of which the idea of
four fundamental motivations of motherhood as prerequisites for the formation of attitudes towards motherhood in women is theoretically substantiated.
