The purpose of this article is to identify V. Kazko’s approaches to the artistic reflection of the dialectics of the factual and the illusive as the basis of the motif of human quest for true self, name and place on the material of the novel “The Revolt of Unclaimed Ashes”. It is proved that the work represents author’s deep philosophical reflections and complex ethical concept which are accompanied by detailed descriptions of everyday life. As well, the Belarusian writer combines the aspiration to a truthful portrayal of life with the reflections of human civilization perspectives. At the same time, past, present and future are closely interconnected creating a unique supratemporal space. Moreover, the text is saturated with deep symbolism, comparisons, mystical and phantasmagoric images which facilitate the transition from concrete historical and even biographical time and space to the outer space and vice versa. Thus, illusion in the novel unfolds on a quite rational basis.
Key words: V. Kazko; prose; human ontological status; ecological problems; motif of quest; apocalyptical motifs; phantasmagoria.
