Abstract

The article studies the emergence and development of the legal aid institute. The historical analysis of legal aid dates back
to Roman times, it originates from the Roman-German and Anglo-Saxon legal systems which are the cornerstones of the legal
systems in a great number of countries. The article describes the features of this institute development over the centuries.
