Abstract

The estimation of the dynamics in the sustainable economic development of the regions has been carried out. The
technique is based on the analysis of the loss in the stability of the economic growth by comparing the dispersion of the
gross regional product (GRP) rates growth. The benchmarks are the variance and the coefficient of variation. The object of
the study is the regions of Belarus. The study period is from 2008 to 2013. Time intervals with the closest to the sustainable
economic development, as well as with a maximum deviation from the average point have been fixed. Graphic simulation of
the dynamics of the economic development in the regions has been employed as well. The econometric model of the
dynamics of investment activity in the region has been constructed. The results obtained reveal the reasons for the
recurrence of the economic development in each region of the Republic of Belarus. On the basis of the analysis some
directions to improve the stability, smooth economic development of the regions of the country have been put forward.
