Abstract

In the works by the famous Russian liberal historian N. I. Kareeva the history of Poland plays a central role. On the
basis of the socio-political and theoretical-methodological views N. I. Kareev builds his historiosophical concept of the
world history and presents the role and the place of it in Western Europe as the advanced part of humanity as well as
Poland as a part of it, situated at the crossroads of Western and Eastern Europe. Emanating from this standpoint he singles
out the characteristics of the historical evolution of Poland and its connection to the history of Russia. Correspondingly,
this part of the creative heritage of N. I. Kareeva has been studied in particular and no special wholesome historiographical
research on the problems has been carried out.
