Abstract

This article deals with the analysis of historiographic tradition and sources relating to the history of Belarusian
diasporas and the formation of Belarusian studies in Great Britain at the end of the XXth century — the beginning of the
XXIth century. The study of the published sources allows to conclude about the insufficient knowledge of the problem We
set and achieve the goals, thus, it helps create a holistic view on the phenomenon. The main steps in the formation of
Belarusian studies in Great Britain in the above mentioned period are 1) the 50s — the 80s of ХХth century, influenced by
the World War II and the Belarusian diasporas settled in Britain after it; 2) the 90s of the ХХth — the beginning of the
ХХIth century, characterized by the growing influence of Belarusian diasporas and an interest among academicians and
cultural communities in Belarusian problems and the formation of a separate direction in Belarusian studies, focused on the
history and culture of East European ethnicities of the CIS states.
