Abstract

The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was founded according to the Agreement on the CIS Establishment (8 December 1991, Minsk). Twenty-six years of its history proved that it is an unique and universal organization that had no analogies. The principles of mutual trust and equality, consideration of each other’s interests, recognition of the right of the states to choose their own development model predetermined the relevance of the CIS, its important constructive role in the system of international relations. The
permanent population of the countries in the CIS exceeds 282 million people, who are granted broad social rights and guarantees; for example, in the sphere of pension provision when resettling from one country of the CIS to another one.
