Abstract

The history of the forced migration of the population of Belarus during the First World War is reflected in the books of the series “Memory”. Evacuation, re-evacuation of population and refugee were presented in books as separate essays and as published historical sources. The specific feature of the series is that the materials on the history of refugee and evacuation are presented in the publications of the second half of the 90s of the XX century — the beginning of the XXI century. Fifty-nine books of the series do not mention the events related to forced migration of the population. The most eloquent documents of the refugee history are the memories of former refugees. The analysis of the books of the series shows: the materials on the history of forced migration of the Belarusian population in 1914-1923 represent an important corpus of historiography and sources on the problems of the historical demography of Belarus at the beginning of the twentieth century.
