PROSPECTS FOR THE WITHDRAWAL OF MONOPOLY RENT AT VARIOUS SCENARI-OS OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN BELARUS

Abstract

The article considers the problem of the economic rationale of the value of monopoly rent for its withdrawal to the budget. Monopoly rent refers to the excess profit (income) which is received by an organization that occupies a dominant position in the market. This income must be related with the primary activity of the organization. The method for calculating the value of monopoly rent for its withdrawal to the budget that is based on a comparison of prices of the organization with ones in foreign competitive markets is proposed.

The possibility of practical application of the proposed methodology and the economic effect of its application are demonstrated using the data of UE “Velcom” which occupies the dominant position in the communications market.

Also, the article considers various scenarios of socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus and the pro-spects for the withdrawal of monopoly rent in their implementation.
