Abstract

The article describes promising areas and possible spheres of cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with the Asia-Pacific countries on the example of such countries as: Korea, Japan, Vietnam and China. The international cooperation of the Republic of Belarus with China, Vietnam, the United States and Japan has been analysed. Favorable factors of bilateral cooperation such as interest in scientific or technological development, stability of the political system, openness of the countries for the expansion of political, trade and cultural agreements have been identified. The factors that hinder the development of international economic relations with these countries include the lack of consistency in the government policy towards the post-Soviet space, lack of knowledge or superficial understanding of the political system and economic opportunities of the those states; visa barriers, distance and high cost of communication and delivery of products; building an economic model based on the priority of purchasing of advanced foreign technologies rather than goods; and the coincidence of the export structure of the Republic of Belarus and the Asia-Pacific countries in many respects.
