Abstract

The priority directions of the social policy of the Republic of Belarus are to protect the health of citizens and
provide them with quality medical care. State obligations to provide the population with free medical care of the required
volume and quality are not currently fully provided with financial resources. The growing need for public health services
requires additional sources of financing, which can be provided by health insurance, when fixing the state guarantees of
citizens for free medical care. Health insurance is an integral part of insurance activity in the Republic of Belarus and one
of the forms of state protection of the population. Health insurance is a system of legal relations aimed at organizing and
providing health care to citizens through the use of insurance mechanisms.
