Abstract

The article considers such an impediment to marriage as kinship in a straight ascending and descending line, between
full and half brothers and sisters. It is focused on the fact that marriage between cousins, aunts and nephews, uncles
and nieces is dictated by moral, ethical and biomedical grounds, as evidenced by research data from geneticists and
religious belief. Having analyzed the family legislation of the Republic of Belarus, international normative legal acts,
religious views and opinions of researchers — geneticists, it is proposed to expand the circle of persons whose marriage
is unacceptable.
