Abstract

This article discusses the basic scientific and theoretical models of Slavic ethnogenesis, designed and used in
scientific works of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The author’s understanding of the term “model” is justified as
applied to the process of historical research, each of the main models of Slavic ethnogenesis is characterized with an
indication of its strengths and weaknesses, and the epistemological potential of various research approaches to solving
the problem of the origin of the Slavs is revealed.
