Abstract

The article deals with the fall of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the evaluation of contemporary Polish
historiography; it is about the historians who are engaged in this problem, their works and how the process of studying this
issue is done in modern Poland and its features. This paper will be useful for those who want to learn how after the collapse
of the Soviet Union in 1991, Polish historiography moved away from the Marxist doctorate in the study of its history, what
achieved in subsequent years in the study of the causes of the Commonwealth fall. The positive and negative trends in the
study of this problem at the present stage of the development of the Polish state are revealed in this research.
