Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the activities of the Riflemen Association for the development of physical culture and sports
on the territory of Western Belarus in the interwar period. This activity has not received proper coverage in the Belarusian historiography.
This issue is considered in a regional context, using the example of Baranovichi region, Novogrudok voivodeship. It is emphasized that
sports activity was one of the main directions of the statutory activities of the Riflemen Association and fully corresponded to the concept
of the implementation of the official youth policy. The article describes the organization, conduct and composition of the participants of
the march “Svityazianski Shlyakh”, which was the most significant sporting event, held on the territory of Baranovichi region during the
interwar period. It is concluded that the main obstacle for the effective sports activity of the Riflemen Association, including in the field of
sports events, was the difficult financial situation of the region. In the course of work on the article, a wide range of documentary sources
was used, some of which are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.
