Abstract

N. N. Lyubovich retained a number of fundamental provisions of Russian conservative historiography in his judgments. The main problems of historical Polish studies are considered by N. N. Lyubovich in the context of the fundamental ideas of Russian historical Polish studies: Reformation and Counter-reformation in Poland, the nature of the confrontation between the German world and the Slavs (including Poland), the civilizational confrontation between the Orthodox Slavs and Catholic Poland, the Western Russian lands as a part of the Polish-Lithuanian state. The evaluative positions of the scientist in the complex of problems of this topic are very diverse and
sometimes contradictory.
