Abstract

This article is devoted to the analysis of the main features of the religious policy of Alexander Severus and is based on the evidence of Roman historians, numismatics and epigraphy. The article deals with the manifestations of syncretism and traditionalism in the political and religious propaganda of Alexander Severus. The relevance of this research is in clarifying the historical picture of the development of the spiritual culture of the Roman civilization, which is the basis of modern culture. The religious policy of Alexander Severus simultaneously supported the traditions of the Roman
religion and was tolerant to syncretic tendencies in the religious life of the population of the Roman Empire.
