Abstract

The article explores the main evaluative positions of modern Russian historiography concerning the problem of the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The main studies on this problem carried out by Russian historians in the period after the collapse of the USSR and to the present day are considered. The steps and features of the process of studying this problem in modern Russian historiography are noted. At the same time, the connection of the main evaluative positions of modern Russian historiography and the main fundamental ideas of Russian historical polonistics of the XIX — early XX century and the main ideas of Soviet
historical polonistics is indicated.
