Abstract

The article examines the Soviet interwar historiography of the history of the peasantry of the Belarusian provinces at the end of the 18th – first half of the 19th centuries. The introduction provides a brief historiographical overview of research on the issue under consideration in the pre-revolutionary period. The main part analyzes the process of formation and development of Soviet historiography of the history of the peasantry, new methodological approaches for the interwar period, and identifies a number of pressing issues that interested researchers during this period. Works on each of the issues considered by Belarusian Soviet historians of the interwar period are analyzed according to the time of their appearance, i.e. in chronological order. A conclusion is made about the need for further comprehensive study of the Belarusian interwar historiography of the history of the peasantry at the end of the 18th – first half of the 19th centuries. due to the lack of a special comprehensive study of this issue from the standpoint of modern historiosophy.
